Step 1
To make your lentils: place lentils and water in a large pot. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cover the pot. Cook for 15 minutes. Keep the heat low.
Step 2
To make the rice: add rice to the pot where you are cooking the lentils so they finish cooking together, add the additional water, and salt. Cover and continue to cook on low heat for an additional 18 minutes.
